VIENNA (Reuters) -- Norwegian five-times world champion Kjetil Andre Aamodt badly injured his right leg during training on Wednesday for the World Cup giant slalom in Soelden this weekend, emergency services OeAMTC said.

Aamodt, the only active skier to win in each of skiing's five disciplines, was flown by helicopter from the Rettenbach glacier to hospital in Innsbruck.

The men's World Cup season kicks off with a giant slalom on Sunday.
